Below are the lyrics, which have been copy pasted from some other website/ blog. Though I understand nothing of Punjabi, I read the lyrics and the translation, and they make you wonder about the depth and beauty of the words put together.
Essentially, the song is about a woman who can't bear a child. She hence makes do by making a child statue from clay. Her husband is abroad, and while she fears that she can't raise this child all alone, she also starts realizing that the child doesn't cry nor move nor ask for anything. It brings out all the emotions of motherhood and sorrow, beautifully put together in a language I can't understand but still can feel.
Mitti Da Bawa Main Banani Ha,
Weh Zhaka Pandi Ha,
Weh Uthe Dendi Ha Khese,
Na Ro Mitti Deya Babeya,
Weh Tera Pyo Pardeshi,
O Mitti Da Bawa Nayiyo Bolda,
Mitti Da Bawa Nayiyo Bolda,
Weh Nayiyo Chalda,
Weh Nayo Denda Hai Hungare,
Na Roo Mitti Deya Babeya,
Weh Tera Pyo Banjara,
Kite Ta Lawa Kaliya,
Weh Pata Waliya,
Weh Mera Ptla Mahi,
Kite Ta Lawa Shetut,
Weh Menu Smaz Na Aawe
Here's a link of the same song. Originally sung by Chitra Singh for a film, this is Jagjit Singh's rendition of the same song.
