Pachola
Kusumagraj
Aad watela door ek maal
Taru tya varati ek la vishaal
Ani tyachya bilgoniya padaas
Jeerna pachola pade to udaas
Usha yeo shimpit jeevanaasi
Nisha kaalokhi dadvu dya jagasi
Surya gaganaatun otu dya nikhara
Muk saare he saahato bichaara
Taru varachi hastat tyaas paane
Hase muthbhar te gavati majene
Vaatsaru va tudvisa tyaas jaat
Pari pachola dise nitya shaanta
Ani ante din ek tya vanaat
Yei dhaavat chaufer kshubdha vaat
Dise pachola gherun tayaate
Nei udvuni tyas door door kothe
Aani jaaga ho mokali talashi
Punha padnya varatun parna rashi

Can you post meaning of this beautiful poem
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite poems. This poem means that the dried, shed off leaves that are lying below the tree are a matter of fun and joke to others. Everybody passing them seems to make fun of them, even the green leaves of the same tree aren't an exception for this. And one day a breeze carries away all the dried leaves from below and leaves the place clean so that it can be in turn occupied by the green leaves (who had laughed at the dried leaves) when they themselves dry off and fall. This poem is a metaphor, where implicit comparison is made between the dried leaves and the old elderly people, and between the green leaves and the younger generation....

ReplyDeleteI would also like to add that the poem is a metaphor for socially outcast people as well as ignored people.
